Episode Transcript
[00:00:00] Speaker A: That's two. When we do the top five, is it top five ever or top five? I mean, you know what I'm saying?
[00:00:04] Speaker B: Starting five by position.
[00:00:05] Speaker C: I know.
[00:00:06] Speaker A: Ever or like the past 20 years?
[00:00:09] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:00:10] Speaker C: Who?
[00:00:10] Speaker B: We saw your own personal. I like to put your own personal touch.
[00:00:13] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:00:13] Speaker D: No, no, no. We took that out. You talking about the five players?
[00:00:19] Speaker A: Okay, I must say, I have my list ready.
[00:00:21] Speaker C: I have my list. Smoke.
[00:00:23] Speaker A: My lineup was crazy. We probably wouldn't lose the game.
[00:00:26] Speaker C: Listen, we going small in the back court. Let me hear it.
[00:00:32] Speaker B: So, I mean, I like the passion right now.
[00:00:34] Speaker A: I'm here.
[00:00:34] Speaker B: We could throw that back in and we could take out.
[00:00:36] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. We could put it back in.
[00:00:40] Speaker C: You know who the three is? Who? The guy himself. Carmelo Anthony, silly.
[00:00:45] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:00:46] Speaker C: You know who the four is? Who?
[00:00:47] Speaker D: Well, Mellow played the four in college.
[00:00:49] Speaker C: He's playing the three.
[00:00:51] Speaker D: He played the four in college.
[00:00:53] Speaker C: Who?
[00:00:53] Speaker A: Yours. You said.
[00:00:54] Speaker C: All right, all right.
[00:00:55] Speaker A: He won't play the three.
[00:00:55] Speaker C: You want to cheat?
[00:00:56] Speaker D: No, no, no. You can't.
[00:00:58] Speaker C: Kevin Durant, the three.
[00:01:00] Speaker D: Kevin Durant played the four in college, bro.
[00:01:02] Speaker A: You can't.
[00:01:04] Speaker C: They were on the win, bro. They played the wing. I don't know what basketball.
[00:01:11] Speaker D: Yo, come on, man. That's the space in the court.
He did the same thing.
So do y'all want to put it in?
Do y'all want to put.
[00:01:28] Speaker C: That's my squad.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: I mean, my starters. I got Jalen Brunson a two time.
[00:01:32] Speaker D: I don't need to hear y'all start. Do we want to do this or not?
[00:01:36] Speaker A: All American player of the year. He was nasty. And guess who? I got it in the other. Other side of the backcourt. Pull up from 50.
[00:01:43] Speaker D: JJ.
[00:01:43] Speaker A: JJ, ready.
[00:01:44] Speaker D: Are you coach?
[00:01:46] Speaker A: Coach?
[00:01:46] Speaker C: JJ.
[00:01:47] Speaker A: Huh?
[00:01:48] Speaker C: JJ.
[00:01:48] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:01:50] Speaker C: I was talking about JJ, but I said, nah, nah.
[00:01:53] Speaker A: Then I got KD. Of course, Mr. 2611. 2.
[00:01:56] Speaker D: 2 and 2.
[00:01:58] Speaker C: Yeah, it was crazy. He was crazy.
[00:02:00] Speaker D: All right, so. Yeah. All right. So y'all locked in on this?
[00:02:03] Speaker A: He busting out his sneakers. You know who I'm talking about.
Y'all better go back and watch that freshman. You better go watch that year.
[00:02:12] Speaker C: He's not Beasley. No, sir.
[00:02:14] Speaker A: And at the five, I got the champion, the defensive player, the Brow ad.
[00:02:20] Speaker D: Yeah, Champion.
[00:02:22] Speaker A: I'm locking that paint down.
[00:02:24] Speaker C: We switch them one through five.
[00:02:26] Speaker D: What do you.
[00:02:27] Speaker C: Yo, Mellow. Kdbz. We're taking turns on that fat.
He was in shape. He was in shape, that dude.
[00:02:35] Speaker A: What you talking about?
[00:02:36] Speaker C: That's your weak lip right there. I don't like that.
[00:02:39] Speaker A: He was in shape.
[00:02:39] Speaker D: It.
[00:02:40] Speaker A: Duke, you tripping.
[00:02:41] Speaker C: Where you at, man? What's your file?
[00:02:43] Speaker D: No, I'm not. I'm not gonna say my file, but.
[00:02:45] Speaker A: Are we doing it?
[00:02:46] Speaker D: We put it.
[00:02:47] Speaker A: We can set this up. What? Cut it up.
[00:02:49] Speaker D: No, no, no. I'm not telling y'all my father. Y'all gonna hear it when we doing it, so.
[00:02:53] Speaker A: But y'all gonna be so professional, man.
[00:02:55] Speaker B: This is it.
[00:02:56] Speaker A: I like this.
[00:02:57] Speaker D: All right, so what we. You want to take out the underrated?
[00:03:00] Speaker C: My five is ready.
[00:03:01] Speaker B: I can take out the underrated coach.
[00:03:02] Speaker D: All right. Yeah, take out the underrated coach.
[00:03:04] Speaker A: My five is legit.
[00:03:05] Speaker C: My five is ready. Who want the rock?
[00:03:07] Speaker D: Beasley, J. Will.
[00:03:08] Speaker C: How? Kimber, how we want to do it? Melo, Katie. All scoring options.
[00:03:12] Speaker D: You definitely got one of my players, though.
[00:03:14] Speaker C: Lee, I know.
[00:03:18] Speaker D: You know my backcourt.
[00:03:19] Speaker A: You know my backcourt.
[00:03:21] Speaker C: Guess what.
[00:03:21] Speaker D: Guess you know my backcourt.
[00:03:26] Speaker C: I gotta have a New York guy in there.
[00:03:28] Speaker A: Hey, that's above your time.
[00:03:31] Speaker D: Yeah, G. You weren't watching basketball then.
[00:03:34] Speaker C: I know you too young.
Too young.
[00:03:37] Speaker A: Watch you choke against iu. What are you talking about?
What are you talking about? I'm gonna give y'all one more.
[00:03:43] Speaker D: I'm gonna give y'all my three, man. I ain't giving y'all my bigs, though.
Karam Butler.
[00:03:48] Speaker C: Oh, I like that.
[00:03:52] Speaker A: Kd, though. I'm sorry.
[00:03:54] Speaker C: You know, I agree with you with that. Gary, I got kd.
[00:03:57] Speaker A: Come on, man. What you talk.
[00:04:00] Speaker D: But Karan, in college, he was different.
[00:04:02] Speaker C: I know who that is. You know.
[00:04:04] Speaker B: You know what?
[00:04:05] Speaker A: I just thought about something. I might. I might sell one of my guys.
[00:04:07] Speaker D: See, that's why. That's right. This is why I didn't want to throw names out there. This is why I didn't. All right, come on.
Hey, Nick, let's get started. Let's.
[00:04:16] Speaker A: Want to take Jalen Breaston out there, but I thought about somebody, but.
[00:04:19] Speaker C: Oh, it's too late. It's too late. I can't believe you said Jay.
[00:04:27] Speaker A: Come on, Back step. My bad.
[00:04:31] Speaker D: My bad.
[00:04:32] Speaker C: You can have him, too. Kimba is Shout out to Jay Rich.
[00:04:35] Speaker B: Welcome to another installment of the Pit Legends podcast. I am your host, Nick Rivers. I'm joined by my fellow Fellow Pit brothers, La, Vance Fields, Gary McGee, and Jermaine Dixon. Yo, you're here to talk this week. Crazy week in college athletics, Crazy week in basketball in general. But we're going to talk college first. We got to talk about Pitt. Roller coaster week. Cj, I was at that game in person. The environment in there was awesome. It was a late night Tuesday game. Jay Williams on the mic, jumping in there, down 10 at half, only to fight back to cut it within two before the first half ended and came back and eventually won it. Zach Austin, incredible game. What did you guys think of that UNC game on Tuesday?
[00:05:15] Speaker A: We definitely came back and, you know, fought back in the second half. Like you said, Zach Austin played great, you know, big, big shots. He made big shots. Crazy dunk down the lane. Or was that in the second? Was that second half?
[00:05:27] Speaker C: Second half?
[00:05:28] Speaker B: Second half?
[00:05:29] Speaker A: Yeah, second half, down the lane, not on the break. He played great. Made some huge blocks down the stretch. He just played. He plays with a lot of energy, man. And it gets, you know, it always gets the fans going, gets the zoo rocking, you know, when they get behind you, it's always good in there. But Jalen Lowe played good. Big plays, you know, he made big plays, done play good, hit some big shots. So we just, we had a good game and it was a good win for us. We. We needed that win. Big win for us. You know, going into, after getting that win in Syracuse, coming back and winning at home in front of the fans. I like the energy we played with. We took care of the ball.
[00:06:01] Speaker D: That's.
[00:06:01] Speaker A: That's the thing that we learned that we have to do. We have to take care of the ball if we're not going to get out. Rebounded sometimes. So that's the thing where we can, you know, have some slack as far as the rebound and things. It was good taking care of the ball and it was a good win for us. I loved how the guys fought and won. So it was a great win for us.
[00:06:18] Speaker D: Yeah, echo what you said, G. We said coming to this, me and Levance, we both said it. Jalen Lowe, when he's matched up against a top guard, he comes to play and he did that. He didn't shoot bad, he didn't shoot great. But he finished with 18. And, you know, late in the first half when we was down 10, he went on a personal 80 run to bring us back in the games.
It was encouraging to see him play well.
Isshin done.
It's done in Zach. It was good to see their defensive effort. They changed the game on the defensive end for us even. We did a lot of switching and UNC guards were making some plays, but when we need to stop those three guys, they definitely made some stops for us that we needed. And also Jalen Lowe, like I was talking with Gail and I said as we look at it. We not going to win the rebounds. Every time I came to the realization, we all talked about that in the chat. Like we came to the realization that rebound is not our strong suit. But it was good to see those guys at different points of the game dominate on the defensive end. Like watching Jalen Lowe straight for the ball, die for the ball, had to dive him for the ball, get up. It was good to watch those guys try to make plays to win the game on the defensive end when we need it. And then like G, like you said, Zach, I think Zach closed the game out. He had. I think. I don't know if you said it. He had five blocks underneath. Did he have five blocks?
[00:07:44] Speaker B: Yeah, five blocks.
[00:07:45] Speaker A: Five blocks. Yep.
[00:07:46] Speaker D: Yeah, five blocks. Big shots. It was good to see them guys get that win that two game winning streak and you know, obviously tough lost the weight this past Saturday, but it was encouraging to see what we can get from them after that UNC game.
[00:07:59] Speaker C: Yeah, like both of you said, the game was, it was a great game. Oklahoma Zoo looked like they was fired up. We definitely played off of that energy. Just watching it through the tv. I thought the crowd did a great job at points where we looked like we was getting a little lackadaisical. Like Maine said, it was a great job. On different separate occasions. I think Dunn ish. Even Jalen Lowe where they were just diving on the floor like how we used to do when we play. You know how you got to get on the floor, man, get after the ball, jump ball. It just shows that you're engaged, man. You're trying to hustle and do anything to earn a possession. You were seen a couple times. Dunn get a tie up, we get the ball, he's screaming, he's fired up. Like, that's the kind of plays we have to make when we out there to impact the game and give us opportunity to win again. Like Maine said, we came to the realization that we're just not going to always win the rebound battle. Obviously that's something when we play it again, we are keyed on. But what we have been doing, I think to rebuttal, that is not turning the ball over. So against UNC again, for the second game in a row, we were under 10 turnovers, which is great.
[00:09:01] Speaker D: Always.
[00:09:01] Speaker C: That's a recipe for wins. We only had 6, UNC had 14. So I think that also helped us late in the game when we needed to make plays on offense and we also got to stop.
[00:09:11] Speaker B: And just when, you know, we think Pitt, we're back on the map, you know, back firmly in NCAA tournament contention, they drop a tough one to Wake Forest. Let's talk about that game on Saturday. Because it seemed like in the first half, you know, they didn't allow one offensive rebound. They won the turnover battle. Everything we've been talking about, the keys to success, they were doing pretty much the whole game. Didn't shoot too terribly, but I think maybe defensively allowed Wake Forest to stay in the game. A couple of their guards went off. How do we feel about that game?
[00:09:40] Speaker C: Yeah, Nick, like you said, man, it was a really weird game. That was a weird game because once again, just going at the numbers and things that we like to look at, that key to our success, we won the rebounding battle, I believe by one. Not by much, but we won by one. We also won the turnover battle and we still lost. I think it came down to just not enough stops at the right time. Even though it was a close game, Wake Forest shot at a high clip. I believe they shot 54% from the field and about 43 from the three. So once again it was a very close game. We still only lost by two. We did a lot of good things in the game, but I think they just shot it too at a high clip that we couldn't come back from that. And unfortunately it was just one play. I mean we were down three already. It's a make. Obviously JLo missed the three attempt fine. We were unbalanced on defense and gave up an easy layup that put us up down 5 with a minute and 30, I believe left, which still a game, but you don't want to give up an easy layup in that point. I wish we would have been able to just be able to man up, try to get a stop, but them getting an easy run out going up 5 right there kind of put an end to that game for us that last game. But once again, just a weird game, Nick. We won key things we thought, I think if we win we'll win games. But the rebound battle and turnover battle, we still unfortunately lost. So that was a heartbreaker coming off the two game win streak.
[00:10:57] Speaker D: Yeah, we definitely, we definitely want to get those wins and that's a tough game on the road. I didn't really, I didn't realize that Wake was 8 and 3 in conference play. I didn't know they was playing that well in acc. That would have been, been a big win for us. One, one of the takeaways that I, you know, noticed. Like Lee, you said we want to rebound and finally, even though it's by one and we took care of the ball and one thing we always said that we are a God oriented team and our guards don't play well. It's going to be hard for us to win. Like you said, they shot 50 from the field and 42 from the three. We shot 43 from the field and 33 from the three and we only lost by two games. I mean two points. Like I said, we can get out and you know it's definitely going to be difficult to play good every night, but we need and I'm sorry, done done like Dunn shot the ball well, he played, he played good. But yeah, we go as far as ISH and JLo take us.
[00:12:01] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean I agree with both of y'all. It definitely came down to a couple's possession. So I remember one. It was, I think it was either tied the ball, it was. We were scrambling on defense, trying to rotate and they end up getting a three on like the right wing, I believe it was and just want to come up with that stop. It was, it was a tough one, but we couldn't get the rotation right. Like we needed to, to be able to get, to get the rebound and be able to push it up the court. But it just comes down to like just, you know how it is. It comes down to one possession, two possessions. You look back at like, hey, I wish we could have got a stop there and maybe the outcome could have been different. Guys play hard. Like y'all said, it's a tough place to play. Big Forest has been having a pretty solid season, you know, so it's definitely just want to look forward to Virginia on Monday or Tuesday.
Look forward to that game. Try to get a win out there. Is it in Virginia or is that. Is it.
[00:12:49] Speaker B: It's at home.
[00:12:50] Speaker D: At home.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: It's at home. Oh yeah. Got to get win at the crib. Need to get a win, protect home court and then just look up from there. Continue to try to take care of the ball. That's gonna have to be our calling card. Take taking care of the ball. Try to keep it close on the glass. And our guards gotta, they gotta do their thing, you know. Gotta try to get, try to get out on the break and get some easy buckets, you know, because I know they like to shoot a lot of shot a lot of jumpers, a lot of sometimes contested shots. They can make them, they make them a lot. But we gotta get, get those easy buckets too for them guys.
[00:13:15] Speaker B: Yeah, Pitt's been in this situation before. I mean, last year they started 2 and 4 in conference and you know, at the end of the year everybody was saying they were definitely a tournament team. So do you guys feel like this team has what it takes to turn it around? I know Capo always gets them ready and always stays relevant. What do you guys think?
[00:13:31] Speaker C: That's a great point, Nick. And because of that, that's what my belief is, is that we can get this done. But like we've been saying the last couple episodes is we don't want to run out of time. You know, I mean, we've been playing hard and like we said that Wake Forest game, we were right there. But we can't have too many right theres without getting a win because at this time of the year it counts against us. You know, that was a big qual one win. I think that would have been on the road because Wake Forest is playing good in conference. We got to be able to get those kind of games, you know, as the season is coming to a close. I do have the belief because of what we did last year. Obviously I'm big on Capo and what he has done and being around the guys like we said in the summertime. So I know the work they've put in. Once again it's just about executing and getting it done out there under the bright lights.
[00:14:17] Speaker B: So we can talk pit. But there was a bunch of great games this weekend. I think I read 11 ranked teams lost, which is an NCAA basketball record. 11 ranked teams lost. 11 ranked teams went down. There's so many games we can talk about. But let's talk about your favorite games. What were the best games that you saw this weekend that you want to talk about?
[00:14:35] Speaker C: I just want to say wide open. Gary, Cuz you been. It's wide open once again.
[00:14:45] Speaker A: I thought. Hey, I thought the Husky wanted to go.
[00:14:48] Speaker D: You haven't. You haven't let it charge yet.
[00:14:50] Speaker C: I'm just. No, I'm just saying it's the. It's wide open in. In March Madness. 11. I'm just going back to your point. We told you it's wide open. Anybody?
[00:14:59] Speaker A: Yeah, for sure. For so.
[00:15:00] Speaker C: For so that's what I'm saying.
[00:15:01] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:15:01] Speaker C: I'm not wide open. Wide open. I saw whoever going go to that point though.
[00:15:07] Speaker A: Is it really though? I still, I still think Auburn is. Auburn look good, man.
[00:15:12] Speaker C: I said they're the best team. They ain't lost the game yet, man.
[00:15:17] Speaker A: I'm just saying. Auburn. Hey, Auburn. But to the point where Nick was talking About. Let me go go to what he said. The games of the weekend. I watched the Houston and Texas Tech game. Great game. I think it was early in the game with like 16 minutes and 10 seconds left in the. In the first half. J.T. toppin, one of the best players on Texas. His Tech gets ejected for because Houston runs like a trap. Like they, they like trapped from the top. So they trapped him and he goes to throw the ball out of the double team and he kicks the dude in the midsection. They go to review and they give him a flagrant 2 and ejecting. So with that, with that being said.
[00:15:50] Speaker D: You going to kicked out.
[00:15:52] Speaker A: That fight got kicked out. They go to review it. The coach. The coach like goes crazy about it.
[00:15:57] Speaker D: He gets too. That was early in the game, early in the game.
[00:16:00] Speaker A: 16, 16, 10. It was 16 10. I think it was crazy. 44 or something like that. Yeah, that's something like that. Everybody's thinking like, you know, you probably go look on the draft kings, they probably got. The odds is crazy for Houston. They at home, they won. I think it's 50 games in a row at home or something like that. I can't remember the exact stat, how many games they won in a row at home, but you thinking they're going to win a game, man. And Texas Tech fall back, man. They got some, some tough, some tough players on their team. Elijah Hawkins, guard on 18, going to work, man, Going to work hitting big shots. And Houston was right there. They go to overtime and then he just takes over. He hits the big shot. Darian. Darian Williams, the other guy on that team. There's three guards, Darian Williams, Elijah Hawkins and McMillan. They balled out, man. It was a great game of overtime. Houston was right there, the big fella on their team, the lefty, he played good. Had a chance to tie it up in overtime and they end up losing and they pull that upset off without the coach or they. The top player, top scorer. So it was, it was a. It was a big game and it was. It was a great game to watch. Fans was into the game, atmosphere looked great. So yeah, that was, that was a great game to watch, man. Seeing the, the guy that played for. Used to be. Be a pit. Federico. Federico. He was on. He's on Texas Tech, so he got some minutes. Nah, he. He's backing up the. I forgot the big kid name on the team. He has a few minutes, though. He didn't play that much. He didn't play that much this game.
[00:17:22] Speaker B: Getting paid though.
[00:17:25] Speaker A: Texas Tech, he Definitely getting paid all.
[00:17:29] Speaker D: The money down in the South.
[00:17:30] Speaker C: No, you not getting paid. Right.
[00:17:32] Speaker D: But yeah.
Big 12 still, right?
[00:17:35] Speaker A: Big 12.
[00:17:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:17:35] Speaker A: Big 12. That was a good game though. I mean, I believe it's. I want to say it's 50 wins in a row. It's a crazy record at home. And that was a big upset to see them lose. See them lose after the best player on the other team and the head coach get ejected. So. Yeah, that was crazy, crazy game to see. Yeah.
[00:17:49] Speaker D: Yeah. Well, you know, I've been riding this Yukon train. I've been riding this Yukon train.
[00:17:55] Speaker A: That's why I said that Husky. I thought you meant you wanted. You wanted somebody to go let the Husky go. That's why I said that.
[00:18:01] Speaker C: Let the Husky go.
[00:18:02] Speaker D: And we talked about St. John's and tough, tough games they had to play coming up. And two of the teams was UConn and Marquette. So watching UConn play against Marquette, this really was my. I seen Marquette play early in the year briefly, but this was my first time really watching them play. And I knew that they had a guard on their team in Cam Jones. He's really good. He's averaging 19, 6 and 5. I didn't realize that they were. I knew they was top 10. I didn't realize they were 183 at the time. Good team, good defensive team. So it looked like old biggies game. I know we said that last time. It really looked like an old Biggie's game. Marquette, they muddy up the game like they physical but they couldn't hit a shot at. With 12 minutes left, they were 3 for 16 and UConn was up. UConn was up 12 points and they should have been up 25. So to say UConn. I, I love UConn and I love Hurley, but UConn is. They are still struggling. Like if Marquette, if Marquette played decent on the offensive end, that game could have went different. But. And to say that Solo ball, he. He. He had 25 points, 25 points, 11 rebounds, shot seven and nine from the three.
He can, he can. I think he can lead them as far as Dan Hurley being the main guy, but I think Solo could be the top guy for them. And I think he can change life for them in March when they gonna get better. I forgot that they have Liam McNeely full wing, but he's really good. He's been hurt since. Since the new year. So that's the one they lacking but and all. No, it was a. It was a muddy game. But Dan Hurley like y'all seen a clip that I put in the chat.
Him finding his or they more desperate than us. That's what he's trying to bring out his team, I'm telling you. And I think it's. It's going to rub off. Like, like Lee said, college basketball is wide open. He's going to take his team to that next level come March. And we in February, we coming getting there to the, towards the NCAA tournament. He's going to have them boys ready to rock. Like I seen. Even though I said he didn't play well, I seen some positive in their team. Terrence Reed, I don't say his name wrong, but Terrence Reed is a good player. He's off the bench for them. One thing with UConn, they don't rebound the ball well, which could always.
That car hurt you. You play a team from the big Big Ten where they play with a lot of bigs or you know, these SEC teams who got, you know, they got all the money and they got top big men that could, that could be tough for Yukon, but I like Yukon and that was a, that was a huge, huge month for them in the big, in Big East.
[00:20:43] Speaker C: My game that I watched was St. John's and Providence. St. John's I know we said they ain't been playing nobody. I know I was one of the people to say that we got the two games coming up, UConn and Marquette. I think we'll really know even more. But you got to play who you play. You got to play your schedule. Kudos to them. They're 19, 3101 in conference. They were up 19 and almost let the game slip, but they were able to win. Kadari, Richmond, Brooklyn native, game winner in the garden, had 24, 8 and 8. He was like the top transfer in the portal. They also have a big and AJ4. I don't know if I said his name right. Averaging 15 on the year. You got RJ Luis, he's averaging 18 on the year. Then you got Kadari, he's averaging 12. But he's a capable player of getting 24, 8 and 8, them kind of statistics. And you got Patino. I mean I can't keep overlooking them or you know, I mean not giving them their credit. Once again we will see more with this Marquette and Yukon matchups coming up. But St. John's is rolling, man. This is the first time they've been ranked in back to back week since 992000 season.
[00:21:46] Speaker D: Mohatt and he was.
[00:21:52] Speaker C: My, my team getting that stacked in Me, baby.
[00:21:59] Speaker A: They doing their thing, bro.
[00:22:02] Speaker D: That's a tough stat. That's a tough stat. I ain't know that.
[00:22:05] Speaker B: Yeah, that's good to see, boy.
[00:22:07] Speaker C: I'm outside today, baby.
[00:22:08] Speaker B: Good to see Patino's finally doing enough to impress you.
[00:22:10] Speaker C: Lee, he's doing this.
No, I'm wrong for, like. I was like, sleep. I'm like, yo, this Patino, bro, they gonna play hard. Like, I got. Yeah, we got it. You know, I mean, he done this before being in the Conference usa, where people back then when they used to think that Conference Loyville was in there. Yup, exactly. So I had to put all that. All that in and go, you know what? I gotta stop sleeping. But once again, we'll see. More Marquette, Yukon coming up.
[00:22:33] Speaker D: Do they play them this week? Any of them? This is it. This week.
[00:22:36] Speaker C: I'm not sure.
[00:22:37] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:22:37] Speaker A: But I'll check it.
[00:22:38] Speaker C: We gotta make sure we watch those. So I'm watching.
[00:22:41] Speaker B: There's so many crazy games this week. I'm surprised none of you have brought up Coach Cal's return to Rupp arena in Kentucky. Got the W. It came with a lot of boos, which I don't know. First of all, how do you welcome back a man that probably. He was on the chopping block, he probably would have fired in the next year, Right? He comes back into the arena, all the boos. He's the villain, but he comes out victorious. What do y'all think about that game?
[00:23:05] Speaker D: I don't know how you. I'm not. I don't hate on Coach Kyle. I'm not the biggest fan. I don't understand Kentucky. How can you boo this man? Like, he literally won you national titles. That. That was crazy to me. I know. And it's. I don't understand that. I had, like. I really don't. I really don't get that how you can boo this man. But. And it's funny because when Kentucky came out, when the Kentucky players came out, he tried to sneak out. He tried to come out. When Kentucky players came out, when they was cheering them on, uh, them bulls came, boo. I said, oh, they.
[00:23:40] Speaker C: That's why his face was like that.
[00:23:41] Speaker A: He was like.
He got big booty. He got the boo birds.
[00:23:47] Speaker C: He got the last. He got the last say. He got that W. Him and DJ Wagner, my guy from Pittsburgh, I don't want to mess his name up, man. I do.
[00:23:54] Speaker D: I do.
[00:23:55] Speaker C: They both had great games and they returned after leaving with Cal. I know their fans was mad at them for leaving, but, hey, they Chose to go with Cal and they had his back on the return. Man, I know that was a. That was a great victory for Cal, especially after getting booed.
[00:24:07] Speaker D: So Wisconsin finally played well. The dude from. From fau, Davis.
[00:24:16] Speaker A: Yeah, the one that from. Yeah, I know you're talking about. He took him to the Final Four.
[00:24:19] Speaker D: Took him to the Final Four national championship game.
[00:24:21] Speaker A: You know where he from?
[00:24:23] Speaker D: Where he from? Indiana. What's his name? It's Davis. Janelle. Janelle. Joe. Now Google that.
[00:24:29] Speaker C: I gotta see it.
[00:24:42] Speaker D: Hey, he. Gary. They get real in Gary. They ain't no Anderson.
[00:24:45] Speaker A: That's only. That's only a little bit. That's what my AU team was based on. I was up in there. I was in the gi.
[00:24:51] Speaker D: But he finds like, he. He's playing terrible this year.
[00:24:55] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. He's not playing as good as.
[00:24:57] Speaker D: He's averaging nine points, four rebounds, shooting 39 from 39.
I mean, I guess it's different when you. You bump up different levels, but he.
[00:25:07] Speaker A: Played well and bumped up to a higher level every night. Instead of just in the tournament.
[00:25:10] Speaker D: Instead of just in the tournament.
[00:25:11] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:25:12] Speaker A: And they got you scouted. They expecting it from you. So you know how that go. Once they know who you are, you ain't gonna get as much easy stuff as you was the first year.
[00:25:19] Speaker C: That was a big one, man. Kyle was 1 to 6 in conference, man, like, like. And that was a bad loss for Kentucky, unfortunately.
Like, I know Cal is Cal and they come. Kentucky, how they've been playing. They. They 12 in the country. They've been, you know, back. And for sec. That's a bad loss for them on their home court.
[00:25:35] Speaker D: I'm sorry.
[00:25:35] Speaker C: One in 16 coming in. They posted that. That's on the flip side. That's why I'm a little like. Yeah, that's why I said a lot of them SEC teams, I see them like sweet 16. And once you get to that weekend, you know, if you play good, it's gonna be the final Four. But it's like, I see a lot of them like that. I don't really. I can't just be like, yo. I feel like they definitely going, oh.
[00:25:53] Speaker D: You know who did that to me? Florida. They got smacked by Tennessee.
[00:25:58] Speaker A: They got punched.
[00:25:59] Speaker C: Make you be like, right, so that's.
[00:26:04] Speaker A: What I' Usually them dominant teams don't lose like that. They might two, one or three. You might have a bad night, you.
[00:26:12] Speaker C: Might lose by seven.
[00:26:13] Speaker A: But it's a good game until the end. But that's. They got smacked.
[00:26:16] Speaker D: Did anybody blow us out of your senior yearly. I know my senior year, we got smack. We lost by 30. Who?
[00:26:22] Speaker A: We lose a 30.
[00:26:22] Speaker D: By who?
[00:26:23] Speaker B: Who?
[00:26:23] Speaker D: Notre Dame.
[00:26:24] Speaker B: Oh, hand.
[00:26:26] Speaker A: We lose a 30.
[00:26:27] Speaker C: I'm this thing. But I don't think I lost by 30, though.
[00:26:30] Speaker A: Nah, we ain't losing.
[00:26:31] Speaker D: We lost by 30. I remember because I ain't gonna say it.
You know where my mind was at.
[00:26:38] Speaker C: I don't think we got smack. My scene.
[00:26:40] Speaker A: I know where his mom was at.
[00:26:41] Speaker D: You know where my mom was at right after the game. Yo, what up?
[00:26:44] Speaker A: Get no action. No action. No action. You wasn't getting the number four jersey. Relax.
[00:26:50] Speaker C: Oh, he was trying to see.
[00:26:52] Speaker D: It wasn't no trying. It wasn't trying.
Yeah, it wasn't trying. It wasn't trying. Shout out to, though. She shout out to. I don't want. I don't want to be keeping it like that.
[00:27:07] Speaker C: You had to say put it all out there now.
[00:27:10] Speaker D: You're right. You're right.
[00:27:15] Speaker A: You said we lost by 30, man.
[00:27:17] Speaker D: 30.
We got smacked.
[00:27:21] Speaker A: I remember that.
[00:27:22] Speaker D: It was at least. At least 25.
[00:27:24] Speaker A: I'm pulling it up. I get us right. Hold on.
[00:27:26] Speaker D: And I don't think it was Hasbro. It was the guard.
[00:27:29] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:27:31] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:27:33] Speaker A: Don't.
[00:27:33] Speaker D: It wasn't.
[00:27:34] Speaker A: It wasn't.
[00:27:34] Speaker D: It wasn't.
[00:27:35] Speaker A: It wasn't what you thought it was.
[00:27:36] Speaker B: It was.
[00:27:36] Speaker A: It wasn't what you thought it was.
[00:27:38] Speaker D: It was.
[00:27:38] Speaker A: No, it wasn't. It was no hair.
[00:27:41] Speaker C: Relax, relax.
[00:27:44] Speaker A: Chill out.
[00:27:45] Speaker D: I was. God. I was guarding the. God. I can't. The point God. Who was the point guard? Next. Name.
[00:27:50] Speaker C: He was quick. I forget his name.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: Black dud.
[00:27:52] Speaker D: Black dude.
[00:27:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:54] Speaker A: 13, bro. What you talking about?
[00:27:56] Speaker C: Something like that. I knew it.
[00:27:57] Speaker D: We was. That. We had to be. We was down.
[00:28:00] Speaker A: My bad. Wrong team.
[00:28:01] Speaker D: Okay. Yeah.
[00:28:03] Speaker B: In the guard from Baltimore.
[00:28:05] Speaker D: He's not from Baltimore.
[00:28:06] Speaker A: Columbia.
[00:28:06] Speaker D: Oh, he could be.
[00:28:07] Speaker A: We lost by 15. That's not 30, though.
[00:28:09] Speaker C: At PIT. That's 30. I know.
[00:28:11] Speaker A: That's on the road.
[00:28:12] Speaker C: We was on the road.
[00:28:12] Speaker D: We was on the road, but we was. We was losing, I think.
[00:28:15] Speaker C: I don't mean at the university, at our gym.
Oh, yeah, that's right.
[00:28:21] Speaker D: I think we was down by more than that.
[00:28:24] Speaker C: I know we got smacked. Why you trying to come?
No, I'm telling you.
[00:28:28] Speaker D: Why me?
[00:28:29] Speaker C: Feel like he lost my 30. Yeah.
[00:28:31] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:28:31] Speaker C: I'm just about to say 15.
[00:28:34] Speaker A: I could take 15. We got smacked by Marquette when you came back.
[00:28:37] Speaker C: I'm pushing off a broke foot. They better have smack.
[00:28:40] Speaker A: Thought we had. We thought we had energy. We thought the General was back.
[00:28:43] Speaker C: We thought things about to change.
[00:28:45] Speaker A: It didn't change. We got smacked. They got us up out of there.
[00:28:48] Speaker C: Who cooked y'all?
[00:28:49] Speaker A: Dominique, James, Wes Matthews.
It was a team effort.
[00:28:56] Speaker C: Laughing in the tunnel. We throwing a clap. We getting punk.
[00:29:09] Speaker B: We had that.
[00:29:10] Speaker A: I was ready.
[00:29:12] Speaker C: We lost my 30. Man.
[00:29:14] Speaker A: That really. That was really a 30 point loss.
[00:29:17] Speaker D: That was a 30 point loss.
[00:29:19] Speaker A: It was only 18.
[00:29:20] Speaker D: That's what I'm saying. Y'all were probably down. Y'all probably was down by like three.
[00:29:24] Speaker C: Down about 41.
[00:29:25] Speaker A: No, we was down 30. Who was the guard?
I got in, got a bang that game.
[00:29:30] Speaker C: I don't remember that.
Dominic James.
[00:29:37] Speaker D: Dominic James.
[00:29:38] Speaker B: He was nice, son.
[00:29:40] Speaker C: He used to report Dominic James, don't let him go right.
[00:29:43] Speaker A: Where he from?
[00:29:44] Speaker B: Who's the little. The two guard?
[00:29:47] Speaker C: McNeil.
[00:29:49] Speaker A: That's who was killing us that game.
[00:29:51] Speaker C: Yo, they say the scouting report, man, don't let him go right. Man, what I let him do? Yo, he's gonna jab step, he's gonna do all that. But he's going right? What I do Let him.
He was so quick, son.
[00:30:04] Speaker A: I'm like Lazar Hayward. That's what else they had.
[00:30:06] Speaker C: He was super solid when we left. He ain't do nothing when I was there. I don't remember.
[00:30:10] Speaker D: I don't think he killed. He didn't kill us either.
[00:30:12] Speaker C: He didn't kill us either. It stops at McNeil, Wesley Matthews and Dominic.
[00:30:17] Speaker D: No, I don't think.
[00:30:18] Speaker A: Dude gave us 1412 that game. Borrowed 1412. Six.
[00:30:23] Speaker C: Six. He used to do stuff like that, but I don't.
[00:30:25] Speaker D: I don't think my junior. I don't think McNeil killed us.
[00:30:28] Speaker A: Dominic James didn't do nothing that game, Lee. Yeah.
[00:30:30] Speaker C: Wesley Matthews got busy. That's when he let the scouts know he was ready.
[00:30:33] Speaker B: Oh, that's ye.
[00:30:34] Speaker D: Hey, remember.
[00:30:34] Speaker A: Hold up, Rel. McNeil has 17 my junior year.
[00:30:37] Speaker D: You remember Wesley Matthews hit the fade away in front of his bench on Gail.
[00:30:43] Speaker C: It was as the sh.
[00:30:44] Speaker D: But as he fading, they yelled, pro.
I said, oh, Gil, you let them give you a bucket like that?
[00:30:52] Speaker C: And you heard their team was saying pro.
[00:30:55] Speaker D: Their team was saying pro.
[00:30:57] Speaker C: McNeil had 17. You talking about. He ain't do nothing, man.
[00:31:01] Speaker D: My junior.
[00:31:02] Speaker A: Yeah, we talking about. We talking about.
[00:31:03] Speaker D: No, I'm talking about my junior year, Neil.
[00:31:06] Speaker A: That game. He had that game.
[00:31:09] Speaker D: I wasn't there, Lee. Don't try to throw that on me.
[00:31:12] Speaker C: Junior year. I'm talking about my senior year. How you wasn't there.
[00:31:14] Speaker D: How you Wasn't there how many he had. How many he had just seen you.
[00:31:17] Speaker A: Hey, Lee, when you came back, you. We was 19 to 5. We was right there.
[00:31:21] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:31:22] Speaker D: G. Pull up, pull up. McNeil's Lee, senior year.
[00:31:25] Speaker A: Senior year.
[00:31:26] Speaker C: No, McNeil was. Would you tell name before that?
[00:31:29] Speaker D: Wesley Matthews.
[00:31:30] Speaker C: No. You a say that averages.
[00:31:32] Speaker D: No. McNeil.
[00:31:33] Speaker A: You said who? You said who? You said. Didn't kill us, though.
[00:31:36] Speaker D: You said.
[00:31:36] Speaker A: You said Lazar Hayward didn't kill us. Yeah, he had 22 when Maine and you were on the court starting in the lineup, but hey, yeah, 22 and 10.
[00:31:48] Speaker C: So Sam got a guard. He got a guard.
[00:31:59] Speaker D: That was big.
[00:32:00] Speaker A: Jarell McNeil had 20.
[00:32:01] Speaker C: I don't know what name was talking about.
[00:32:04] Speaker A: 24, though.
[00:32:05] Speaker D: Eight for 24. Yeah.
[00:32:06] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:32:07] Speaker A: You locked him up. That's locked down.
[00:32:08] Speaker C: Hey, listen, I'm taking that 23.
[00:32:12] Speaker A: He didn't even get a pointed shot. He didn't get a pointed shot, man. That's a good job.
[00:32:15] Speaker D: I'm cool with that. I'm cool with that. All day.
[00:32:17] Speaker C: Taking that and get that 23. Keep my eye.
[00:32:20] Speaker D: You had that 23. That's cool. Take your percentage.
[00:32:23] Speaker A: You gave him 13 back on the other end.
[00:32:25] Speaker D: And they even it out. What I shoot, I shot good. So it evens out. 5 for 9. Yeah, it evened out.
[00:32:30] Speaker A: 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 for 5 and 3.
[00:32:32] Speaker D: Come on, man, keep talking.
[00:32:34] Speaker C: Keep talking.
[00:32:41] Speaker A: 17 points, 10, 3 turnovers, 2 turnovers.
[00:32:50] Speaker C: I'll score Maine again.
[00:32:54] Speaker D: We gonna find some games. I got some games.
[00:32:57] Speaker A: That was the one. That was a duan blur night. I ain't gonna read my stuff.
[00:33:01] Speaker D: Minutes.
[00:33:01] Speaker C: I was at the wall 28 minutes.
What he at? 20 and 20 again.
[00:33:06] Speaker A: 23 and 9.
[00:33:07] Speaker C: Oh, I thought he about to say 23 and 29. What the.
[00:33:11] Speaker A: 23 and 9. Three dimes, three assists, four block.
[00:33:14] Speaker D: How many minutes you play, Jay?
[00:33:15] Speaker A: No, he get in at.
[00:33:16] Speaker D: I play.
[00:33:16] Speaker A: No, I play one. I played two. My bad.
[00:33:18] Speaker D: That's crazy.
Let's be real.
But his defense, he. Because he had to get bigs in there. He was grooming you, were booming you, Nick, that's crazy. Don't say that again. Don't say. Don't say that again.
[00:33:52] Speaker C: Not Joey Paul.
[00:33:56] Speaker D: No, but he had to get big then because. Damn.
[00:33:59] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, you're right, though.
[00:34:00] Speaker C: Yeah, I told him, listen, if you put that game again, he better know how to set screens. Coach, I got you right at one game.
[00:34:10] Speaker A: I gotta play. They was in foul trouble. I had to play minutes.
[00:34:13] Speaker D: Louisville. Louisville. Louisville.
[00:34:19] Speaker C: Should be ready to set that Screen, though. He ain't want to mess up. I give him that.
[00:34:23] Speaker B: You had the best edge I've ever seen in my life. It's a textbook. Whenever I'm teaching my high school kids, I'm thinking of you. I'm imagining you.
[00:34:30] Speaker D: Nick, Nick, Nick. It's 2025. Do not have your kids hedging 2025. We not hedging no more.
[00:34:38] Speaker A: I ain't seen a hedge in college.
[00:34:40] Speaker D: Basketball in a minute.
[00:34:41] Speaker C: I mean, somebody do it, but they right.
A lot of people be.
[00:34:45] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:34:45] Speaker C: Icing. Keep them on one side.
[00:34:47] Speaker A: It's the rotation. It's the rotation and the shooting ability. Now, the four man wasn't shooting.
[00:34:53] Speaker B: It's dead.
[00:34:54] Speaker C: We had to shoot L. Bigs Biggs could shoot confidence. My son was a knock down shooter. And my son. I mean, it was you.
[00:35:02] Speaker D: It was you, Lee.
[00:35:03] Speaker A: You.
[00:35:03] Speaker D: You really was a bad. Because as I think about it, you used to talk to me. I was shooting bad. When Dixon said, leave me alone. Oh, Dixon told me to leave you alone.
[00:35:12] Speaker B: Remember that?
[00:35:13] Speaker C: What?
[00:35:14] Speaker D: Even though. Even though. Even though. Even though he wasn't. Even though he wasn't taking my confidence.
I used to tell Lee, shut up.
[00:35:22] Speaker C: Up.
[00:35:23] Speaker D: I went ahead. I used to tell him, shut up. I don't want head. But Dixon said, leave him alone.
[00:35:30] Speaker B: It was a.
[00:35:31] Speaker A: He used to say, you ain't gonna move your car if I'm sitting in the front seat. He coming. This is.
[00:35:35] Speaker C: That's cra.
[00:35:36] Speaker A: That's crazy.
[00:35:37] Speaker C: That's wild.
[00:35:37] Speaker A: You making seven footer get in the back seat because you want to wait on him.
[00:35:40] Speaker C: That's crazy.
[00:35:41] Speaker A: He telling you, make a shot.
[00:35:42] Speaker C: Make a shot.
[00:35:43] Speaker D: Yo, hold up. It was an escalator.
[00:35:48] Speaker C: Why? He told me to stop. Come on, son.
[00:35:51] Speaker A: Yeah, that was crazy.
[00:35:56] Speaker C: Your brother is a national champion who shoots lights out. I can talk to you that way.
That's what I'm thinking.
[00:36:03] Speaker D: I was cool with it.
[00:36:04] Speaker C: Get it out of them pause. He's gonna shoot the lights out. That's what I'm doing.
[00:36:08] Speaker D: Yeah, I was cool with it. I told you. Shut up. Leave me alone. I don't pay you no mind, but Dixon came crying. Hey, hey. I appreciate it.
[00:36:16] Speaker C: How do you remember that? Nick, leave him alone, man. Said, all right, man. Coach, I said, he from Baltimore. I'mma leave him alone, though.
[00:36:35] Speaker D: That's crazy.
[00:36:36] Speaker B: All right, we're halfway. Halfway through conference play in college. Now it's time to start. We're going to start seeing Lenardi out there, going to start seeing the bracketology. What do we think right now? If we had to choose your top four seeds in this year's NCAA tournament, who do you guys have as your four C's right now?
[00:36:52] Speaker A: Take off first. Go ahead.
[00:36:54] Speaker C: I know we all got Auburn. Go, man.
[00:36:56] Speaker D: Yeah, I was gonna say that everybody has Auburn. I think.
[00:37:02] Speaker B: Outside Auburn and Duke.
[00:37:04] Speaker C: I thought y'all also have one more of me, but I guess y'all don't.
[00:37:06] Speaker A: But I, I got Alabama.
[00:37:07] Speaker C: Alabama. G. I'm with Alabama, so it's probably that third one.
[00:37:11] Speaker A: That's where it's at.
[00:37:12] Speaker C: So we good with all them three right there.
[00:37:14] Speaker D: Yeah, I, I, I agree with that.
[00:37:17] Speaker C: I was gonna just be funny with my wild card. If I. A professional answer. I'm not really sure, but if we're gonna give an answer, I got one.
[00:37:23] Speaker A: Go ahead.
[00:37:23] Speaker D: I'll let you go.
[00:37:24] Speaker C: You already know, right?
Patino, you think they gonna jump all the way to.
And I'm going.
[00:37:34] Speaker B: Run the table.
[00:37:35] Speaker C: I'm going. That's my hot take. I'm going.
[00:37:38] Speaker D: I ain't mad at it.
[00:37:40] Speaker C: You got yukon. I got St. John's kid.
[00:37:42] Speaker A: I know you don't got Yukon.
[00:37:43] Speaker D: I don't got Yukon. I don't got Yukon.
[00:37:47] Speaker A: Take that seriously. The show, bro. Come on.
[00:37:49] Speaker D: You can't have Yukon. All right, Holland. Now, why are you going hard like that, right?
[00:37:57] Speaker A: Last year, the year before, this year, 3p.
[00:38:01] Speaker C: You gotta be G. They better not three peat, man. Cause I'm have to come.
[00:38:04] Speaker D: I'll tell you this, G, you better not have. I was stating there. You better not. All that I was made. You was yapping.
[00:38:11] Speaker C: We told him, man.
[00:38:13] Speaker D: Right.
[00:38:14] Speaker C: Told you. They fools go.
[00:38:16] Speaker A: I didn't say that they was gonna be like. I didn't say they was gonna be a number one. See, I said.
[00:38:19] Speaker C: I just like, I thought it was a good team.
[00:38:21] Speaker A: Not that they, you know, I didn't know if they could win it, but I think they can make. Win two games, maybe get to the Sweet 16. But my fourth, my fourth team, I'm probably gonna go with probably Houston. Okay, I like them. I like, but I still, I still like them.
[00:38:34] Speaker D: That's a safe pick.
No, no, no, no, no.
[00:38:40] Speaker A: Now, my pick is a safe pick.
[00:38:41] Speaker D: That's a, that's a safe pick. Is Houston not a safe pick?
[00:38:44] Speaker A: No, it's, it's they, they say.
[00:38:46] Speaker C: Let me say I like them, though.
[00:38:48] Speaker A: I watched them. I watched them more than. That's probably the team I watched the most.
[00:38:51] Speaker D: Besides, I don't know if mine's going out on the limb, but I think Purdue's gonna I think Purdue's gonna get that fourth spot. I think Purdue. And if I really wanted to go off on the limb, I would say Oregon. But I'm gonna say I think Purdue's gonna get that fourth spot. I think Purdue's gonna get it. Just because I think. Just cause I think they're gonna win the Big Ten. I think they're gonna win the Big Ten.
[00:39:10] Speaker A: That's what I was gonna say. I said, you know, a team I need to watch that they've been playing pretty good is Michigan State. Have y'all watched it?
[00:39:15] Speaker C: They lost.
[00:39:16] Speaker B: They lost this weekend, though.
[00:39:17] Speaker D: I know they lost this weekend, but.
[00:39:18] Speaker A: Before that, they was.
[00:39:19] Speaker C: They was balling seven or something.
[00:39:21] Speaker A: Yeah, they've been winning, so I haven't watch. Check them out.
[00:39:24] Speaker D: So.
[00:39:24] Speaker A: Yeah, you're right, though. The big thing will come down probably between Purdue, Michigan State, Oregon.
[00:39:28] Speaker D: Yeah, that's what I saying. Y'all didn't. Y'all just. Y'all just went with y'all hard. Just throwing random teams. I ain't. You're no Big Ten team, but. All right, cool. I'm with it.
[00:39:36] Speaker C: And I also picked my team.
[00:39:38] Speaker D: You did? You did. You did.
[00:39:40] Speaker C: No, I picked my team. Not even so much as a. Now, I think the question was a one seed. Not even a one seed. I'm just saying St. John's would be the other team. I think it get to the four.
[00:39:50] Speaker A: We talking about one season.
Hey, we want you to answer the question.
[00:39:57] Speaker C: I gotta answer the question. I would probably go. It's an SEC team. I'm gonna go Tennessee.
[00:40:02] Speaker D: See, that's another team. I thought.
[00:40:04] Speaker C: Just saying. We talking about one seed. That would be my team. If we talk about who we think will make the Final Four outside of them three team. I'm going to Johnny.
[00:40:11] Speaker D: That's why. That's why I said. You really picking St. John's to get a one seed? That would have been Nick over there. You got to run the table. Run the table. Ain't happening. Not with the Biggies.
They can run the table. That ain't. Yeah. That ain't gonna push you to a one seed.
[00:40:35] Speaker C: I'm about to look at their record.
[00:40:36] Speaker D: They 17 three. They 17 three.
[00:40:38] Speaker A: I'm standing. I'm g. See what they got left.
[00:40:40] Speaker B: You win the Biggies Championship.
[00:40:41] Speaker C: They're 19 3. Sorry, man.
[00:40:43] Speaker B: That means you're beating Marquette 19 3.
[00:40:45] Speaker C: They're 19 3. Don't short them.
[00:40:47] Speaker D: You're right. You're right. That'll be a win against Yukon and Marquette.
[00:40:50] Speaker C: Don't let them do that. Then they're in. They win those.
[00:40:54] Speaker D: Come on.
[00:40:55] Speaker C: They do that. They're in. The patino man, he come on.
The pinstripe, it's on. You know, he got the mall behind him in New York.
[00:41:04] Speaker D: You.
[00:41:04] Speaker C: If he ever thought he was in, I had to really think, like. Now, hold up. He said, gotta watch out for them guys, man.
[00:41:15] Speaker D: Where he from?
[00:41:15] Speaker A: I mean, they next four games, I ain't gonna lie.
[00:41:20] Speaker C: I don't know what parting patino from, but he's from New York, if I'm not mistaken.
[00:41:23] Speaker D: What's that next 4G.
[00:41:24] Speaker A: Marquette, at Yukon, at Villanova, Crayton. Because Creighton, that's what they lost to early in the season.
Then they got. Then they got.
[00:41:34] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. They not running no table at Butler.
[00:41:36] Speaker A: And then at Marquez. That to finish off the season.
[00:41:38] Speaker D: The biggie saying chump. Actually, the biggie saying chump. The Big east is not chump.
[00:41:42] Speaker A: The biggest solid, though.
[00:41:44] Speaker D: It's not chump. That's all I'm saying.
Other solid. Creighton is the dude on Creighton Kelly. What's the big. What's the. Y'all big man? Yeah. Yeah.
Their best player.
Yes. Is he killing what he.
[00:41:58] Speaker A: 19 and 8. What's that Rocket 16, 6 right there?
[00:42:02] Speaker D: Yeah, the Biggie St. Chop.
[00:42:03] Speaker C: I mean. Yeah, man. Like, we get them three teams we picked though. Duke because of Cooper. The guards getting better. They got that defense. You gotta lock them in. You gotta lock Auburn in. Broom pedal foot off the bench. And just how they playing out of lock. Alabama got Spears and Nelson.
[00:42:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:42:19] Speaker B: They can score 100.
[00:42:24] Speaker C: Like we agreed on.
[00:42:25] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:42:25] Speaker C: Them three teams definitely gonna probably be one seeds. I mean, from what I saw, I've seen them the most. I could go with that.
[00:42:30] Speaker B: Okay. The season will continue to develop. You mentioned the name earlier. It's been a hot button debate all year how good this kid Cooper Flag really is. Dicky V, legend, titan of our game. Had a big quote this week. He said, all I can say is in 45 years, I have not seen a player as young as Cooper Flagg. So skilled he is in his own world. He's that good. Dicky V. He's called all your games on how he sees it. Says In 45 years of broadcasting, this may be one of the best players he's ever seen. What do you guys think of that? That comment and that love towards Cooper Flag?
[00:43:03] Speaker D: I'm not mad at his comment, but nah. Best player ever seen freshman. Nah. And you know who I'm rocking with? Ain't no question. Straight From Baltimore. Lee want to leave, want to claim them? If you want. If you want. If you want half, you can have half.
[00:43:19] Speaker C: All right? Don't just act like he got his. Well, he got. He got gritty.
[00:43:22] Speaker D: He got gritty, got the grittiness when he came to the. You know what I'm saying? When it came to Baltimore. But Melo, Carmelo Anthony, Melo was the best freshman I seen play. And I ain't even gonna say it because there's a few names, other names you can throw in there, but Melo went and led his team to a national title in the Big east. When the Big east was.
[00:43:43] Speaker B: Yes, it was.
[00:43:44] Speaker D: It was the acc. It was the Big east. And the Big east was creeping up like, hey, we. We might be the best conference. Melo led them to a national title and Lee did they. They be nothing.
[00:43:55] Speaker C: Who.
[00:43:55] Speaker D: Who won the Big east that year? Regular tournament.
[00:43:58] Speaker C: But they beat them, though.
[00:43:59] Speaker D: B901.
[00:44:00] Speaker C: I don't know if they won, but they beat Syracuse. Okay.
[00:44:02] Speaker D: Yeah. Mellow. Mellow won a national title. Average 22 and 10. Shot 45 from the field. Yeah. Won the national title. I don't. Cooper Flay does a lot more than. Does a lot more than Mellow because he's more of a defender and he was handing the ball. Nobody scored like Mellow. Mello was the best. The best score freshman that came through. And because he led his team to a national title, I'm going Mellow, easy. Fix your face, guy. Fix your face.
[00:44:27] Speaker A: Best score that came through. I mean, I ain't rolling.
[00:44:32] Speaker D: Wow.
[00:44:33] Speaker A: Hey, Angle, that's the one year I won. I want my bracket pool because I picked Syracuse to winning because of Mellow. So I remember that year. It was special. It was a performance and a team wedding, though.
[00:44:42] Speaker D: You was five.
[00:44:42] Speaker A: Team wars work, you know.
[00:44:46] Speaker D: How old were you? Five?
[00:44:48] Speaker A: I was in like seven eighths.
[00:44:52] Speaker D: You.
[00:44:53] Speaker C: Know, I was still.
[00:44:53] Speaker A: I was following the game, man. I always followed the game. But I disagree with Dicky V. You know, I do, too. I like Cooper flag. I think he's a great player. Talented, skillful. He made a pass the other day. They double teamed. He made it cross court to the corner for a three.
[00:45:07] Speaker D: It's beautiful. It sound like Dixon. What are you telling you? Played for Dixon.
[00:45:11] Speaker C: Beautiful.
[00:45:13] Speaker A: It was a beautiful pass. But. But the player I would go with is Kevin Durant, you know, freshman player of the year, 25, 11, 47 from the field, 40 from three, 82 from the line. He dominated. He dominated his freshman year, scoring the ball at will from Everywhere. They couldn't stop him. He's too tall. Shoot over, shoot over. The smaller defender, go by the bigger defender. It's a mismatch nightmare. So that's who I would go with, is the. Is the best freshman that I've seen, you know, play the game last.
[00:45:40] Speaker C: I mean, I gotta agree with my guys. I like Cooper too. He does a lot of great things. Play the game the right way for what's in college basketball. I do think he is top two him. And obviously I like Ace Bailey as well as the top players in college right now. But I have to agree with them in the last 45 years. I will probably. It's a toss up. I'm not mad at either answer.
[00:46:03] Speaker D: The train gone.
[00:46:04] Speaker C: I do, I do honor winning.
Yeah. I heard my first front court guy when we did our starting lineup. So I gotta go with the God body, man. My boy Mellow Melo was, he was something different, man. Like Melo made me at that time really be like, college is lit. Like, like, you know, we all had the moments when we watching that certain time. Like Gary said he's following the game at the time. I'm understanding the game, but I'm just like, yo, college might be better than the NBA. That's what he made me feel like. I'm not gonna lie. But I'm right there with Gary too. I ain't arguing with nobody. Who said Kevin Durant, man, that dude was. He was out of this world, son. Against some Kansas teams when they had Chalmers, Rush, Julian Wright, bunch of pros. They had Sharon Collins, he was going through there by himself. I mean. Well, you got Augustine too. Don't get me.
[00:46:50] Speaker D: Yeah, Augustine.
[00:46:50] Speaker C: I'm just saying.
[00:46:52] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, I'm with you. Was.
[00:46:53] Speaker A: What's the name with him too though? Was Gibson with him or.
[00:46:55] Speaker C: No, no, he got the Gibson.
[00:46:57] Speaker D: He.
[00:46:57] Speaker A: Absolutely.
[00:46:58] Speaker C: But I'm not knocking nobody. They say Katie, but my, my answer would be mellow as well because I got. I gotta honor that championship. That's just not easy to do as a first professional.
[00:47:06] Speaker D: And that's why, that's why I went mellow.
[00:47:08] Speaker C: But I gotta go mellow.
[00:47:10] Speaker D: I thought you. Lee, I thought you was gonna say Mike, man.
[00:47:13] Speaker C: I like Mike Beasy, but don't. Come on. I like Mike, but I. If I gotta go not mellow, I.
[00:47:17] Speaker D: Gotta go kd and that's fine. All I'm saying is all three of those guys, I'm gonna throw Mike in there just because I just said his name. They all from. They are from Baltimore.
I just Wanted to make sure y'all knew that. No, I'm not calling it dmv, because Baltimore, we don't really claim the damn V like that. But, yeah, Baltimore, D.C. yeah.
[00:47:38] Speaker C: Don't do that, man.
[00:47:39] Speaker D: What.
[00:47:40] Speaker C: How you claiming KD and Mike B? They from DC, I thought.
[00:47:44] Speaker D: No, yeah, yeah, they from. But the area and then. And, you know, I. Both of them.
[00:47:50] Speaker C: So, yeah, if somebody wants to say busy.
[00:47:55] Speaker A: But no, Easy was tough, too. That's 07 too.
[00:48:00] Speaker D: That's your class. That's your class.
[00:48:03] Speaker A: Probably the greatest class ever.
[00:48:05] Speaker D: Mike. Mike might have had. Might have had the best stats out of all three of them.
[00:48:08] Speaker C: Best numbers ain't Mike. You got the best numbers out of the three. Mellow got the chip and Katie just seven foot.
[00:48:18] Speaker D: At least 26. At least 26 and 11.
At least 26 and 11 at the career.
[00:48:24] Speaker C: That's why some people be saying, be easy, bro. Not for real. His stats is crazy.
[00:48:28] Speaker A: But I'm like, 26 and 11.
[00:48:30] Speaker D: Look, I said 26 and 11.
Yeah, I say 26 and 11.
[00:48:34] Speaker C: It might be more rebounds than that. He was on the board.
[00:48:37] Speaker A: 26 and 12. KD was 22. KD was 25 and 11. It's close. That's close.
[00:48:43] Speaker C: That's right there. But some people are running that, like, yo, because you.
[00:48:46] Speaker A: You say KD, he shot 53 from the field and 38 from three.
[00:48:51] Speaker D: Mike did.
[00:48:52] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:53] Speaker D: That's crazy. That's crazy.
[00:48:56] Speaker A: One still one and a half of two blocks.
[00:49:00] Speaker D: That's crazy.
[00:49:02] Speaker C: He was killing G looking like.
[00:49:04] Speaker D: Yeah, I remember it.
[00:49:06] Speaker A: But I didn't know how their numbers stacked up.
[00:49:11] Speaker D: Kansas State was recruiting me. They tried to tell me, you know, I gotta bring it back to me. They try to tell me. The coach tried to tell me. He was like, yeah, Mike. Mike coming back for another year. I said, mike ain't coming. Coming back.
[00:49:21] Speaker C: Oh, don't lie to me like that. What?
[00:49:27] Speaker B: Hold on.
[00:49:28] Speaker D: For free, right? I called. I called. I called my man Jay. I'm like, yo, Mike going back to school. He called Mike myself. Hell, no, I ain't going back to school. I said, I ain't going there.
[00:49:39] Speaker C: At K State. They was doing it under the table prior.
[00:49:41] Speaker B: Yeah, Jake pulling there too, right?
[00:49:43] Speaker D: Pulling was there. Yeah, Jake pulling was there. Yeah.
[00:49:48] Speaker A: Yeah. They was loaded at a squad.
[00:49:50] Speaker C: And my son, Kirk Kelly, came through there, you know, I mean.
[00:49:54] Speaker A: All right, but I got a question.
[00:49:56] Speaker B: For you guys, and we'll wrap it up with this. But a big week coming up. Pit basketball, we always like to end it recapping or kind of foreseeing, foreshadowing what could happen this week. Pit basketball winning this week is. You finish the sentence for me.
[00:50:10] Speaker C: Pit basketball winning this week is us continuing to get after it, try to rebound again, not turn the ball over and our guards just, you know, play their game, play confidently and, you know, see where the chips lead. Man, at the end of the day, Virginia hasn't been that great this year. No game is guaranteed. But at home, after losing, you know, a two point game on a road tough game, we should be up for the call. We should be able to pose our will, impose our will. We should be able to win this game by double digits. That's what I'm looking forward to. You need a double digit win in front of the home crowd as we move forward, getting closer to march. Impressive win. We need an impressive win for me.
[00:50:46] Speaker A: Pitt basketball is defending our home court tomorrow in front of the zoo. Like you said, going, going up against a team that's 10 and 12, they're not winning many games. We got to defend the home court, push the pace, get easy buckets. Our three guards need to be big and lead us to a victory. And we need to take care of the ball like we've been doing, continue that. And like Levan said, we definitely have to gang rebound and try to do a good job on the glass and not giving up so many offensive rebounds. And winning this game is really important to our resume.
[00:51:17] Speaker D: I agree with, I agree with G. I'm just about to say the basketball is. If we want to get into the tournament, now is the time to make this run.
We can't play around no more. I'm not saying that they were, but all these games has to be wins. It starts at home against Virginia, a team that's really struggling and, and it ain't gonna be easy because even with them struggling, they still a good defensive team. So they gonna make it tough on us. But if we want to get into this tournament, we won't be playing for something in March for that thing that pause that we wanted to, that we wanted to bring to the university. It starts now, so anything else we're.
[00:51:51] Speaker B: Looking forward to this week? What are some big games, big storylines we're looking forward to?
[00:51:56] Speaker D: It's gonna be the same thing. Pitt gotta start the week for us. Yeah, Pitt gotta start the week for us.
[00:52:01] Speaker C: We need to start it off.
[00:52:04] Speaker A: Come home, man.
[00:52:10] Speaker B: And that's a wrap. Another great week. Talking with my fellow pit legends. Tune in next week. Be sure you like and subscribe like your life depended on it.
Thanks for supporting. Talk to you guys next week.
[00:52:22] Speaker C: It's a wrap.
[00:52:23] Speaker D: Good shit.
[00:52:23] Speaker C: Good work. Good job, fellas. Man, let's.
